Are you having fun yet?

When I was a kid, I thought growing up meant a boring life. Perhaps I didn’t see many adults laughing their head off. Now that I am half a century old, I know that the fun never stops unless you stop it.

Never underestimate the power of laughter to instantly make you have a little fun. Even a forced laugh can sometimes trigger real laughter. I always try to see the humor in everyday life and it is such a stress reliever.

At the launch of Sun Life Financial Sun Short films, Jane and I met Lola Lilia Cuntapay, a character actress of “Shake Rattle and Roll” who plays this scary yaya in the hit movie. I wanted a photo with her so we had that formal pose taken by Tara.

I think it was Jane who suggested to Lola to show her scary antics. And oh she did. She took off her bun with long white silvery hair cascading to her waist length. She said she uses Palmolive.

Oh she made me laugh that I couldn’t get scared enough.

Then we reversed roles. Lola wanted to be scared by us. That was just too funny as Jane and I took turns trying to scaring her.

I don’t think we were successful in scaring Lola but at last we had fun. Lola had fun. Everyone around us had fun.

(Don’t you think Jane and I can play bit roles in the future?)

Attending blog events are usually exciting. Meeting celebrities don’t really fascinate me unless there is more to them than acting skills. Lola is not just a character actress. She knows when to let her hair down and have fun.

I gathered these 9 principles of having fun.

1. Stop hiding who you really are.
2. Start being intensely selfish.
3. Stop following the rules.
4. Start scaring yourself.
5. Stop taking it all so damn seriously.
6. Start getting rid of the crap.
7. Stop being busy.
8. Start something.
9. Don’t worry what others will think about you.
